After 30 hours door to door Haim and i finally made it to New York. The hotel we were staying at was the Athanee Plaza Hotel on 64th street, one block away from central park. We settled in and went for dinner at a "Texan Meat Market". There was basically beer and meat on the menu, which we had plenty of. Georgie turned up the next morning me very tired, hung over and excited, having a very late breakfast. We spent the rest of the morning wandering central park while Hamish had a well needed sleep in. After sorting out his mobile Haim caught up with us early in the afternoon and we made our way to the New York Museum of modern art. The contents of the building was totally beyond me, but Georgie and Haim seemed right at home. Actually they were so comfortable there i had to drag them out at about 8pm. We made our way to little Italy for dinner, and then wandered through SOHO and NOLITA until we stumbled across a little Spanish bar. From there we were given directions to a bar around the corner that had a basement night club. Georgie lasted till about 2am, Haim and i on the other hand found our selves at big daddy's eating god knows what at 6 in the morning.
Sunday morning was already upon us and we had a baseball game to go to. We had a few hours sleep and Georgie dragged us by the ears in a cab bound for Yankee stadium. Our seats were spectacular. right behind the New York Yankees dug out. The game was between the Yankees and the riel's. We all agreed that it was one of the best days at a sporting event we have ever had. The entertainment and interaction with the crowd was fantastic.
We caught the train to Harlem and had a "soul food" dinner at a place called Silvia's. The experience was amazing, the food, staff and patrons created an atmosphere we had never experienced in Australia before. we wandered from 126th street back to our hotel on 64th street.
Georgie and i woke early and caught the subway to New Jersey were the "support vehicle " was waiting for us. Bruce Lieberman the dealer picked us up from the train station and drove us to the yard. It was here that Georgie was introduced to the vehicle she would be driving 7,000 km across America.
